Missouri congressional-map fight remains active before the midterms

A federal appeals court heard arguments over Missouri's disputed congressional map after the U.S. Supreme Court declined to allow the newer map to be used for the November election.

Election officials have been preparing to use the state's earlier congressional districts even though the August primary was conducted under different boundaries.

Late changes to district boundaries can affect candidate selection, ballot preparation and more than a million voters. The dispute also highlights the growing role of courts in redistricting fights.
